Truby Chiaviello - Director
Truby Thomas Chiaviell - The Sicilian Project

Truby Thomas Chiaviello was born May 19, 1967 in Passaic, New Jersey. He grew up in Rutherford, New Jersey, the youngest of seven children. I am practicing Roman Catholic. His father's family is from Campania. His grandfather Samuel came from the Salerno province; Serre was his village. His grandmother, Fannie Passanante, came from Avellino. His grandparents married at Our Lady of Pompeii in Greenwich Village, 1910. His grandfather was a fireman, then a barber and then he found the American Dream when he sold life insurance for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. On his mother's side, his family is Welsh, French and Irish. She came from Beaufort, South Carolina and belonged to one of the few Catholic families in that part of the Deep South. Mr. Chiaviello graduated with a BA in political science, cum laude, from Washington & Jefferson College in 1989. He spent six weeks studying in Israel, Jordan and Egypt for a Middle East class. After college, he was a newspaper reporter at the Lowcountry Ledger in South Carolina. He covered politics at the county and state level and was then a crime reporter. His started his own company in 1995, named Potomac Media in Washington,D.C. He specializes in ad sales, graphic design and editorial work. In 2004, he acquired PRIMO Magazine and since then served as the magazine's publisher and editor. Besides the print magazine with a circulation of 30,000; the company also has a web site and e-newsletter. Through PRIMO, Mr. Chiaviello has published two books, "Politica e Prosa" and "Italian Horror Cinema." A practicing Catholic, Mr. Chiaviello is married to Reem Nourallah; originally from Aleppo, Syria. They have three children,Samer, Rami and Dima. His oldest, Samer, is a sophomore at Brooklyn College and CUNY; a master violinist who plays in the Brooklyn Conservatory. His other two children are still in high school. He has lived in Washington, D.C. since 2000.
